USDA Rural Utilities Service is accepting applications for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 for the Rural Broadband Access Loan and Loan Guarantee program for the construction, improvement, and acquisition of facilities and equipment to provide broadband service for rural areas. Deadline: there will be two application windows for FY 2017: 3/1/2017 through 3/31/2017; and 9/1/2017 through 9/30/2017. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES is offering grants for collaborative efforts to reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the factors in a community that relate to the risk of substance abuse. WELLS FARGO BANK AND THE WELLS FARGO FOUNDATION ARE TEAMING UP WITH THE U.S. CONFERENCE OF MAYORS (USCM) to offer the CommunityWINSSM (Working/Investing in Neighborhood Stabilization) Grant Program. CommunityWINSSM will be administered by USCM with the goal of awarding $3 million over three years, to support local nonprofits in promoting long-term economic prosperity and quality of life for their community. THE KESSLER FOUNDATION is offering grants ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 per year for up to two years to fund pilot initiatives, demonstration projects, or social ventures that lead to the generation of new ideas to solve the high unemployment and underemployment of individuals with disabilities. Preference is given to interventions that overcome specific employment barriers related to long-term dependence on public assistance or advance competitive employment in a cost-effective manner. Although proposals can be submitted from any state, this year the Foundation has prioritized serving Americans with disabilities that live in rural states and other areas with more limited service delivery. Nonprofit organizations, public or private schools, and public institutions, such as universities and government agencies based in the United States or any of its territories are eligible to apply. Deadlines: online grant concepts are due 3/17/2017; invited proposals must be submitted by 7/10/2017. MID ATLANTIC ARTS FOUNDATION is offering grants through the Foundation’s ArtsCONNECT program. The program supports collaborations among presenters across the Mid Atlantic region to facilitate tours of artists involving all performing arts disciplines, including dance, music, theater, and folk/traditional arts. The program is dedicated to bringing artists of the highest quality to underserved audiences throughout the region and encouraging engagements that feature meaningful exchanges between artists, audiences, and their communities. USDA has announced requests for applications for the Farmers Market Promotion Program, and the Local Food Promotion Program to fund innovative projects designed to strengthen market opportunities for local and regional food producers and businesses. NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF STATE OFFICES OF RURAL HEALTH is offering a Rural Health Grant Writing Institute, a 4-month, 9-part webinar-based training series, designed to help rural health professionals build grant seeking and grant writing skills. THE UMPQUA BANK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION supports nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life in the communities the bank serves in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. The Foundation provides Community Giving Grants in the following target giving areas: The Youth Development and Education area focuses on programs that create opportunities for early childhood and K-12 youth that fulfill their educational experience, promote their well-being, and inspire them to reach their full potential. The Economic Opportunity area focuses on organizations that promote stability in neighborhoods through assistance to low-to-moderate income individuals and families. THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE is seeking proposals from applicant jurisdictions grappling with high levels of youth-related gun crime and gang violence that can demonstrate a willingness and readiness to develop fully comprehensive, community- and data-driven responses. Funding will support selected jurisdictions to undertake strategic planning and capacity-building work through multidisciplinary and community partnerships. Deadline: 4/3/2017.
